I love travelling and have been to 89 countries. And what I see,I write about.Impartially.

Sao Miguel is not called "The Green Island" for nothing.
It is green. It rains there a lot.It poured yesterday at times quite heavily,it spitted a lot of the time gently. It did not deter me.I went for a walk looking for a nice place to sit down and have a nice cup of coffee with real milk. The moment I saw the Buondi caffe at the corner of Rua Dos Mercadores I knew I had found it.The menu was simple, everything looked fresh, inviting,I even fancied the black what must have been a chocolate cake, and I never buy a chocolate cake, but this time I seriously toyed with the idea. But there were white and brown rolls and they could be filled with what a customer wanted.I chose a brown roll,a delightful smiling waiter suggested ham and cheese. You cannot go wrong with ham and cheese so ham and cheese it was.Delicious.In March 2011 on the Independence of the Sea from Southampton to Canary Islands the very first day we were offered sandwiches not equalled to date on any ship.My sister still dreams abut them. The simple cheese and ham roll in the caffe Buondi was just as good.I said I wanted the type of coffee the waiter made to a lady before me but with hot milk on the side. After a great discussion, looks of unbelief, heads being shaken, I was told never ever has any-one asked for an expresso with milk on the side. But boiling hot milk I got.Fresh orange juice was pressed for me. Never in my entire life have I tasted juice like it. Fit for the Gods. Before I left I said I would like to have the same waiter make me another roll just like then one I had before, to take away. Why don't you want me to make it, asked another waiter reproachingly. Because the one Pedro made was lovely and I would like him to make me one just like it.But I will make you a better one, was a reply.I burst out laughing.I was happy. This is what I so much miss on Columbus.Being made fuss of.Being made feel special. So I said you can also make me a sandwich, any sandwich you like, surprise me.He put together some chicken, lettuce, mayo, wrapped it up and placed into a cake box. Then he took a little tart, placed it into a smaller box and said this is just for you from me.This kind young man I have never seen before and will never see again made my heart dance.
