I had a tour booked for 9 am, but had to cancel, family matter back home had to be dealt with, and when I was free just before noon I took a taxi for a three hour ride around the city. Three hours of misery. No ventilation. Firmly locked doors and windows I was not allowed to roll down - the taxi driver was afraid of us being robbed by gunmen ( yes, this is a regular occurance in Rio).So we drove around, heavy traffic, blocked roads, piles of rubbish everywhere. Irritable taxi driver. All photos taken through the dirty windows I deleted. The few I have kept are taken on approach to the city. They are quite spectacular. The Christ the Redeemer I never got to see in person. Maybe next time.

And then there was Rio de Janeiro.
The Carnival. What a damp squib that turned out to be.

Terceira island, Azores
one of my absolute favourite photos ever, a herd was being moved from a field to a field. The morning was very foggy, from a distance they appeared to be like extra terrestrials.😊
Agra do Heroismo,Terceira Island
Azores,Portugal
Facebook has brought back these lovely photos from 9 December 2018,when I visited the island. Thank you.
The centre is UNESCO protected, the coffee is excellent, wi-fi free.

Sydney,Australia
Yes, that is how a girl sat in a coffee shop - with a curle in her fringe😊
The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel arch bridge nicknamed the"Coathanger".Completed in 1932 it carries road and rail traffic,a bus lane,a cycle lane and a footpath. It is 1,149 m long and I walked it to the end and back.
The Sydney Opera House, designed by a Danish Architect Jorn Utzon, opened in 1973,is a UNESCO world heritage site, considered a masterpiece of 20-th century architecture and I do not like it. Cold, unwelcoming,in need of TLC.
But for me it is the fair-dinkum aussies that make Sydney what it is-a place to fall in love with and cherish.
