I have the best of neighbours and I have the worst of neighbours.

On one side an English colonel, retired, and his well presented wife, who would not say a boo to a moo. When I meet her in the corridor I smile and say hello, she reciprocates the greeting without the smile and rushes past me.The colonel calls me his neighbour,I do not call him anything,we have not actually introduced ourselves.I did warn him at the earliest suitable opportunity I sunbathe in the nude,so that we sensibly avoid embarrassing each other. He said he has seen it all, and being in the army all his life, no doubt he has.We exchange pleasantries when we see each other,he called out to me in Havana and I said-finally I can see you in all your glory. He laughed until his hat almost fell off.He calls out to me when he hears me on the balcony and in the few minutes we have to chat,we discuss the world and its problems, but we never finish anything, because his wife always calls him in. She who must obeyed. I like both of them. On the other side I was neighbourless for over two weeks.I thought the Gods were smiling at me.Then they moved in.Why were these two people moved in from the fifth floor I do not know. Were they upgraded or moved up after they complained? Did they pay to change to a junior suite? They certainly do not belong. Noisy, drawers go crash, bang.wallop every day at all times,I can clearly hear their TV.They are loud on the balcony, talk constantly with raised voices as if on the verge of an argument.Uncouth,uncultured. I do not like them.
