I love travelling and have been to 89 countries. And what I see,I write about.Impartially.

I like Lisbon very much.
And what is there not to like abut this city that has been over the centuries transformed from a simple and plain cinderella into an enchanting princess.
Now,you do not see any glittery malls here,no sky scrapers to take your breath away.Lisbon is traditional and somewhat old-fashioned but in a modern, forward looking kind of way.At every which turn there is a little coffee shop.I have not yet had a bad cup of coffee here or fresh orange juice that was not aromatic and did not taste as orange juice should.Sweets and desserts, many composed of eggs or honey or marzipan overfill the displays and you wish you could try them all.The Portuguese can cook bacalhau [cod] in 365 different ways. And the city is certainly not short of pharmacies.I picked up pastilha molle and some adjuvante mutolicito to keep me alive, the staff were knowledgeable, service excellent. The Portuguese people, even when not educated, are cultured and civilized.
We docked at 9, sailed away at 5.30.Was one of the first in the dining room and had an excellent table by the window and an excellent dinner - parmesan risotto with rocket pesto and toasted pine nuts, celeriac, parsnip and pear soup with caraway seed croutons, pork schnitzel with sage butter, spatzle, savoury cider apples, pancetta creamed cabbage, followed by cranachan with raspberries and a shortbread petticoat tail and I must not forget the cranberry tea.The most excellent end to an excellent day.
Spatzle is a soft egg noodle of German/Austrian origin.
Cranachan is a traditional Scottish dessert made from oats, cream, raspberries and whisky, all mixed together. No 2 cranachans are ever alike.
