Never has been so much owed by so many to so few
said Mr Churchill.Am watching "Dunkirk",the 2017 film,am quite surprised it is being shown on the ship's TV so soon after its general release.
The Germans complain the British spend too much time talking about the Second World War even after all these years.
My father was not British.
He spent a large part of his young life in a concentration camp.
When I see fat old Germans sprawling on deck chairs behaving as if they owned the world, I ask myself- which one of you had beaten my father so that he could barely stand, which one of you had starved him to near death?
My dear father, the best father in the world, had tried all his life to forget the horror of it all.
Am I supposed to forget what the man with the biggest heart who gave me life had gone through?? Am I supposed to forget?
