14 March 2018, Lisbon
I had me a plan. To show my sister Lisbon I love.To walk from the ship towards the Triumphal Arch, ponder a little in the "Baixa",look around the shops on the Rua Augusta, sit down for a coffee and a Portuguese tart at Paul's,then take the funicular lift. I had promised her the extravagantly decorated Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, she said she would be happy with that and we would spend the time left walking around and hopefully we would come across a little restaurant where some local delicacies could be had.
Yes,I had me a plan. And then "the beast from the East"reared its ugly head and the wind and the rain put paid to that.We were both prepared but there was too much water with a little respite now and then,so we had coffee and the Portuguese tarts at the fist nondescript coffee shop we came to, then went inside one of my favourite little boutiques where the most adorable yellowish suede heels looked at me and I knew I had to have them, a matching bag was found, too, retrieved from a large box newly delivered for unpacking, the pretty assistant was adorable, she could see I loved their product, all Portuguese made, and she couldn't have been more helpful. My sister found a flat pair of evening sandals, very comfortable and very sexy.Happy we returned to the ship just avoiding another downpour.
