The final word on the 16-23 July,2016 cruise on Britannia.

Was the cruise a good value for money? NO. Two adults and two children of 7 and 10 - £ 2,620. Two adults and a baby of 14 months - £ 1,787. I do not have the figures for my sister, her husband and myself at hand. There was an additional service charge they call AUTO GRATUITY CHARGE of £38.50 per person, £269.50 in total for the 7 adults. This is one payment I never resent making, even though I have great misgivings the money is being shared between the staff. Our total additional bill was £740.31 plus £50 I have paid as a deposit for a future P & O cruise. I must add that I made the reservations in November of last year. The seven adults on this cruise all but myself and the baby's mum dance to an employer's tune and in order to be able to take two weeks holiday at the same time, they had to have a date to work towards months in advance. Would we have paid less for a last minute booking? I do not know and frankly would much rather not know now. But there are always bargains to be had especially on a massive ship like this where a large number of staterooms needs to be filled. I cannot wait for another P & O cruise, most likely on the little Oceana even though I have not made a reservation yet. This coming Sunday 14th August I am sailing on the lovely Celebrity Eclipse to Scandinavia and Russia for 12 nights.
