When I was in this neck of the woods in 2019, an inflatable boat
took us to Whitehaven beach well over an hour away.It was a helluva ride and I said never again, so this time it was Airlie beach only.
The water near the mainland is shallow, the ship had to anchor a good mile away and tenders took us ashore. It is never a pleasant experience, but it is either that or staying on board.
