TONGA.

is another Pacific island I visited in 2019,so this time it was easy to plan a  taxi tour. A lady using her car as a taxi ( many locals do it)  asked for  $ 200, I offered $ 100, deal done. But when we parted I gave her $ 150. She was nice, hard - working, driving a ramshackle old car in need of tlc.
We stopped at the Royal Palace,
then the blow - holes that were not blowing and fly - foxes that were not flying.
Captain Cook landing site was another photo opportunity, as was the Ha'Amonga Trilithon. The stone structure is believed to have been buit by a king to honour his two sons, but it is just a story never confirmed.
My sister did not like Tonga, she said it did not "touch her heart" and was too dirty. I tried to put a good word for it but without success.

This is the Captain Cook landing bay.

The blow holes were rather tired when we visited. They were much friskier in 2019.
The flying foxes barely seen at the top of the tree, fast asleep in the midday sun. Smelly and noisy when awake, only the members of the Tonga royalty are allowed to shoot them.
